Social Spaces was invited to conduct a MAP-it session in the Forte Prenestino Social Centre in Rome (IT), as a preparatory meeting to the first edition of BABEL2, biennale of 'critical living'. The organisers wants to create a platform of discussion and creation to reflect upon different modes of living, with for example actions of squatting and nomadic living. Through a conscious use of resources, the biennale's organisers also promote and experiment with biocompatibility and self-construction.

On Friday 13th of May 2011, research group Social Spaces together with FASHIONCLASH organized a mapping session at the i_beta/event 2011 in Heerlen, the Netherlands. Together, they discussed what the aims of such platform could be, what key values it would represent, which (collaboration of) people would be essential to keep the platform active and whether there would be an online and an offline counterpart.

On 21st of November 2010 we organized a mapping at the City Mine(d) - Urban Platform event in Brussels:

For 5 years, City Mine(d) has been connecting urban gardeners to cyclists, DIY-ers to urban planners, and kitchen chefs to IT-ers through projects in public space. This year, the platform gathered about 30 initiatives from 13 European cities, to exchange and show their perspective on our current challenges, present their approach and inspire people to action.

Our workshop focused on the European district in Brussels and the participants tried to answer the question "What can small and grass-roots initiatives do to tackle urban issues in the European Quarter?"

On Saturday 4th of September, the research group Social Spaces was invited to organize a mapping session for Studio Zonder Titel in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. The participants were asked to think about questions such as: what does silence mean for you? What connects silence with creativity? And how to incorporate silence into a concrete space? This resulted in the three groups designing a ‘working place for silence’.
